SOCIAL SECURITY:

All local Social Security offices are closed to the public for in-person service as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020.  My office can also provide assistance with the Social Security Administration, Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA. You can reach us at 845-561-1259.

This decision protects the populations Social Security serves—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and their employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  However, they are still able to provide critical services.

Please visit their Social Security & Coronavirus webpage to get updates on the latest, including how to get help from the Social Security Administration by phone and online.

**I encourage you to share this information with your members, colleagues, affiliates, and other interested parties.**

In addition to the CDC guidance for all Americans on how to prevent the spread of coronavirus (such as hand washing, etc.), the CDC has now published additional guidance for older Americans and/or those who have serious chronic medical conditions – the individuals who are at higher risk of getting very sick from coronavirus.  For those at higher risk of serious illness, the additional guidance includes:

  • Take everyday precautions to keep space between yourself and others.

  • Stay home.
  • When you go out in public for essential tasks, keep away from others and wash your hands often.

  • Avoid all non-essential air travel.
