On Saturday, Representative Sean Patrick Maloney is hosting a free fair for veterans, service members, and military families featuring dozens of organizations, including the mobile health unit from VA Hudson Valley Health Care, Hudson Valley Veterans Service Organizations, NYS Division of Veterans’ Affairs and education liaisons from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The fair will take place on August 3rd from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the SUNY Orange – Middletown Campus in the George F. Shepard Student Center Building located at 115 South Street in Middletown, NY 10940.

With Hurricane season in full swing throughout the Northeast, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney participated in two Hurricane Preparedness Workshops and launched an online resource page and a printable Hurricane Preparedness guide. June 1st marked the beginning of another active hurricane season, scheduled to last through November, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), has recently predicted an above average hurricane season. The past few years have seen devastating natural disasters like Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Lee, and Superstorm Sandy.

With soaring temperatures and over a dozen confirmed cases of Legionnaires’ diseases in the Hudson Valley, Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) called on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide assistance to health care facilities on best practices for preventing and addressing cases of Legionnaires’ disease in New York and the Hudson Valley region. Some of the most common sources of Legionnaires’ disease are water systems in hotels or hospitals, although most facilities have water treatment equipment to kill Legionella bacteria.
