One day before President Obama delivers his State of the Union address, Representative Sean Patrick Maloney will hold his first telephone town hall this year on Monday, January 27 at 7:00 PM to discuss the “State of the Hudson Valley.” Rep. Maloney will discuss President Obama’s upcoming State of the Union address and will answer constituent questions on issues important to folks in the Hudson Valley like the economy, healthcare, immigration, extending unemployment insurance, and increasing the minimum wage.

Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) rallied in opposition to ongoing secret trade negotiations, known as “fast track” authorization, concerning new trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Currently, the TPP is being negotiated in secret between the United States and 11 Pacific Rim countries including Japan, Mexico, Malaysia, and Vietnam, which are 40% of the world economy. Fast Track legislation, which would create a process to ram the agreement through Congress, was introduced in the Senate and House on January 9th, and surrenders Congress’ constitutional rights with respect to trade policy.

Newburgh, NY - Representative Sean Patrick Maloney once again urged the House Republican leaders to restore unemployment insurance for more than one million Americans, including 137,000 New Yorkers. Funding for the federal unemployment insurance benefits program expired in December. It is estimated that each week an additional 5,000 New Yorkers will lose benefits during the first half of 2014.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney supported Fiscal Year 2014 Consolidated Appropriations Act which overwhelmingly passed the House by a vote of 359-67. The bill, expected to pass the Senate later this week, repeals the worst effects of the last Congress’ sequester.
