The Farm Bill failed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 195-234. The Senate passed a similar bill without the Tea Party provisions by a vote of 64-35.

Representative Sean Patrick Maloney strongly opposed H.R. 1797, which attacks the Roe v. Wade protection of a woman's right to choose by banning almost all abortions after 20 weeks. Tea Party extremists forced the bill through the House Judiciary Committee along partisan lines with no exceptions to survivors of rape or incest. H.R. 1797 now requires a mandatory reporting requirement, forcing survivors of rape and incest to pursue a government permission slip.
