Maloney To Accept Applications for 2021 U.S. Military Service Academy Nominations

Prospective students are invited to apply by October 30th

Newburgh, NY – Today, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) announced that his office will begin accepting applications on August 17, 2020 from students interested in attending one of our nation’s service academies. Prospective students must submit their completed application packets by Friday, October 30, 2020.

“Each year, I have the honor of being a part of one of our country’s oldest traditions, nominating outstanding students from the Hudson Valley to attend one of our U.S. service academies and join the next generation of American leaders,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. “Those who attend a U.S. service academy, like the U.S. Military Academy at West Point right here in our backyard, will receive a top notch education and be well-prepared for a lifetime of service.”

A Congressional nomination is required for students interested in attending the following academies:

  • United States Military Academy (USMA) – West Point, NY
  • United States Naval Academy (USNA) – Annapolis, MD
  • United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) – Colorado Springs, CO
  • United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) – King’s Point, NY

Students applying to the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London do not need a Congressional nomination.

Interested students must submit their completed applications to Rep. Maloney’s district office at 123 Grand Street in Newburgh, NY 12550 (2nd Floor), no later than Friday, October 30, 2020.  All applicants who have submitted their completed application materials will be contacted to schedule their interview with Rep. Maloney’s Service Academy Selection Board.

The application process is open to residents of New York’s 18th Congressional District who will be between the ages of 17 and 23 on July 1, 2021. Students are encouraged to research the specific academies on their respective websites for further information on the nomination and selection process.  Detailed information and a downloadable application are available here or also at seanmaloney.house.gov. Any questions may be directed to Khristian Silvis, Rep. Maloney’s Director of Military and Veterans Affairs, at 845-561-1259.
