Maloney’s Statement on Anniversary of September 11th Attacks

Washington – Today, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) released the following statement observing the 18th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks.

“As we come together across the Hudson Valley today, we pause to mourn with those who lost loved ones in the September 11th attacks and honor the unbreakable spirit of New Yorkers and Americans everywhere. Our first responders and everyday heroes worked to rebuild our country and help us all heal, and we will be forever grateful. Together, we have a strength and resilience that shines bright – even on our darkest days,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney.

Rep. Maloney serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), commonly known as the Intelligence Committee. He is the only Democratic New Yorker on the committee and is working every day to ensure New York is safe from future physical and cyber threats.

Rep. Maloney was a proud original co-sponsor of the Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act, which passed both chambers of Congress and was signed into law in July. The bill extends the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund (VCF) for 9/11 responders, survivors and their families until 2092, and covers the existing gaps in the fund that could have potentially caused thousands of impacted people to lose up to 70% of their VCF benefits.
