Maloney Fights to Restore the COLA for Military Retirees
Washington, D.C. – Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) supported the Repealing the Reduction in the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for Retired Members of the Armed Services, which passed the House with a vote of 326-90.
“We must honor those who selflessly served our country and those who are currently serving in our Armed Forces by ensuring they have the retirement benefits we promised them,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, son of a Navy Veteran. “It’s plain wrong to balance our nation’s budget on the backs of our heroes in the Hudson Valley who have dedicated their lives in service to our country – we can do better.”
Rep. Maloney has previously voted to restore COLAs for disabled military retirees and survivors, and last December, Rep. Maloney signed as a co-sponsor of the Military Retirement Restoration Act which repeals all cuts to military retiree cost-of-living adjustments while closing tax loopholes for offshore corporations.
