Maloney Announces 2021 Congressional Art Competition

Newburgh, NY – Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) is calling on all Hudson Valley student artists to submit their artwork for the 2021 Congressional Art Competition. The deadline for submitting art to Rep. Maloney’s office is 5:00 pm on Friday, April 30, 2021.

“I am once again looking forward to seeing the incredible talent of our Hudson Valley student artists on display during the 39th Annual Congressional Art Competition,” said Rep. Maloney. “This past year has looked a lot different for students in New York, but art has been and always will be a fantastic way to bring light and creativity to our community. I encourage all young artists in the area to submit their work for this year’s competition.”

All pieces submitted will be showcased on Rep. Maloney’s Facebook page from May 3rd through May 7th, 2021, during the Facebook Fan Favorite period. People can vote for their favorite artwork using Facebook “likes.” That same week, local judges will review each piece and select a winner.

The winning candidate will be announced at an awards ceremony in the Hudson Valley this spring, and the entry will be displayed for a year in the United States Capitol alongside artwork from across the country. The piece with the most “likes” on Rep. Maloney’s Facebook page will be crowned the “Facebook Fan Favorite.” Additional information can be found on Rep. Maloney’s website.

Each piece must have an attached Student Release Form and be suitable for display (either matted or framed). Students are limited to submitting three works of art. The competition is open to high school students, but exceptions may be made for schools that have grades 7th through 12th on one campus.

All entries must be submitted by Friday, April 30, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. Pieces can be submitted virtually or in-person at Rep. Maloney’s Newburgh office located at 123 Grand Street in Newburgh, NY. For additional questions, contact Paige Banfield at Paige.Banfield@mail.house.gov.
