Asks for Pay to be Withheld During Shutdown

Representative Sean Patrick Maloney continued calling for Republican leaders to bring the Senate’s clean government funding bill to the House Floor for a vote to end the government shutdown. This clean funding compromise is now supported by nearly 20 Republicans.

“My neighbors in the Hudson Valley didn’t send me here to participate in reckless political games like shutting down the government. Working across the aisle with colleagues like Pete King, we can end this shutdown standoff by passing a bipartisan clean funding resolution,” said Rep. Maloney.

In addition, Rep. Maloney sent a letter to the Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representatives to ask for his pay to be withheld during this shutdown.

"Until Congress ends this irresponsible shutdown, I won't accept a penny - Members of Congress shouldn't get a better deal than the families at West Point and Stewart Air National Guard," concluded Rep. Maloney.

If any folks from the Hudson Valley have questions about what the federal government shutting down would mean for them, Rep. Maloney encourages constituents to visit his website, e-mail or call his office at 202-225-5441 or 845-561-1259.
