Health Care Issues
I’m fighting to expand access to quality, affordable health care for families, businesses and hardworking New Yorkers across the Hudson Valley.
In 2019, a record number of New Yorkers utilized Marketplace health insurance plans, made possible by the continued success of the Affordable Care Act. We’re working to make this landmark bill stronger for all New Yorkers, protecting our systems of care from reckless, partisan attacks. The Affordable Care Act has given New Yorkers living with pre-existing conditions strong patient protections, expanded access to care and has connected more patients with doctors in their community.
Nearly 8.4 million New Yorkers live with a pre-existing condition, including over 1 million New York children. Nationally, 130 million people live with a pre-existing condition. I support improvements that will protect the millions of patients living with a pre-existing condition, lower the cost of premiums and deductibles, help small businesses navigate the law, and allow Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices.
I have also called for protecting and increasing funding for community health centers throughout Hudson Valley and New York State. These health centers serve our small and rural communities, and connect New York patients with a network of doctors and specialists across the state.
My office is open and ready to help Hudson Valley New Yorkers with questions about their health care or navigating the health care Marketplace. I invite you to call my office: 845-561-1259 or send me an email on my “Contact Me” page.
